Baseline Chart
A dual-zone area chart showing performance above and below a reference baseline.
What the Baseline Chart does
Baseline Chart renders a dual-zone area chart split by a horizontal baseline. Price above the baseline fills with green area, price below fills with red area, showing relative performance vs a reference level. Works like a comparative return chart or a Z-score visualization. Particularly useful for showing how an asset performed above or below a key price, moving average, or benchmark.

How to use the Baseline Chart
- Select Baseline Chart from Trading Tools and define the price path waypoints.
- Set the baseline level (a horizontal price or zero for return-based views).
- The chart auto-fills green above and red below the baseline as it animates in.
When to use it
- Show how a stock performed above and below its 200-day moving average.
- Visualize a strategy's equity curve relative to a drawdown baseline.
- Compare an asset return to a benchmark by centering the baseline at zero.
Tips
- Keep fill opacity at 15-20% for a clean dual-zone look without overwhelming the line.
- Add a dashed horizontal line at the baseline level to make it explicit.
- Pair with a Market Line on the same canvas to overlay absolute price with relative performance.
