How to Edit Trading Videos
With Animated Candlestick Charts

The trading video editing workflow I use on a 39,000 subscriber trading channel: script, voiceover, trading animation, edit, publish. No After Effects.

What trading video editing actually involves

A trading video has three layers: your voice, the chart, and the edit that ties them together. Normal editors like CapCut and Premiere handle the voice and the edit well. The chart is where trading videos fall apart, because no general editor knows what a candlestick is.

That is why so many trading channels are screen recordings of TradingView with a cursor dragging across a static chart. The fix is trading animation: the chart builds itself candle by candle while you explain it, so the viewer sees the setup form instead of being shown the answer.

How to edit a trading chart video in 5 steps

1

Write the script, and get the first 10 seconds right

Most trading videos lose viewers before the setup is ever explained. Open with the result: the finished chart, the trade that worked, the mistake you are about to fix. Then explain how. Write every word down before you open an editor, because the script decides the length of every scene that follows.

2

Record your voice first

Record the voiceover as one clean audio track before you build any visuals. Now every chart animation has a fixed length to fill, so you never end up stretching footage to match a sentence. A USB microphone and a quiet room are enough.

3

Build the trading animation

This is the step general editors cannot do. Candles appear one by one, a zone fades in as price reaches it, the entry, stop loss and take profit slide into place. In ChartAnimator, a candlestick editor built for this, you build it from a blank canvas with candle builders, drawing tools and keyframes, then export it as an MP4.

4

Edit it together

Drop the voiceover and the chart animation into your editor of choice: CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Filmora. Cut on the beats of the script, add captions for mobile viewers, and lay any screen recording over the narration.

5

Export, thumbnail and publish

Export at 1080p or higher. Grab a single frame of your strongest chart moment as the thumbnail, so the thumbnail promises exactly what the video delivers. Title it the way people search: "how to" beats clever.

Which trading animation software?

For the chart layer only. Keep using whichever editor you like for the cut.

Trading video editing FAQ

What is the best trading video editing app?

Use two tools. A trading animation tool such as ChartAnimator builds the animated candlestick chart, and a normal video editor such as CapCut or Premiere combines it with your voiceover, captions and cuts. General editors are good at the second job and have no candlestick charts for the first.

Is there a candlestick editor for trading videos?

Yes. ChartAnimator is a candlestick editor made for video: you build candles one by one or as a group, set each body and wick, add zones, Fibonacci, Elliott waves and trade setups, and every element animates on a timeline. Charting platforms are built for analysis rather than video, so they have no timeline for animating zones, labels and trade setups in sync with a voiceover.

Can I edit trading chart videos in CapCut?

Yes, CapCut is a good editor for putting the video together. What it cannot do is draw or animate a candlestick chart, so traders either animate a static screenshot with keyframes or bring in a chart animation built elsewhere and edit it in CapCut.

How do I edit a trading chart video without After Effects?

Build the chart animation in a tool made for candlesticks, export it as an MP4, and edit it with your voiceover in any editor. After Effects can do it, but every candle, wick and zone has to be drawn and keyframed by hand, which is why a single trading animation often takes 6 to 20 hours there.

How long does it take to edit a trading video?

With a trading animation tool, a 5 to 10 minute YouTube video usually takes 30 to 60 minutes of chart work plus your normal editing time. Building the same charts by hand in a general editor typically takes several hours per video.

Is ChartAnimator free?

The editor is free: every builder, every drawing tool and unlimited projects. You pay only when you want to export a finished MP4, with plans starting at $29 a month.
