Why After Effects does not work for trading content

These are not opinions. They are the same four reasons every trading educator eventually abandons After Effects.

No candlestick templates
After Effects has no concept of a candlestick, wick, or chart pattern. Every element must be hand-drawn using shape layers. A single chart animation with 20 candles can take an entire afternoon just to build the base chart.
6 to 20 hours per video
Even experienced After Effects users report trading chart animations taking 6 to 20 hours per video. Most trading content creators publish multiple times per week. The math does not work.
Wrong tool for the job
After Effects was designed for broadcast motion graphics, film titles, and visual effects. It is exceptionally good at those things. Trading charts are an afterthought - there is no pipeline, no shortcut, and no community of traders sharing templates.
$57 per month minimum
After Effects requires Adobe Creative Cloud, which starts at $57/mo. For a trading content creator who just needs to animate a candlestick pattern, this is significant overhead for a tool that still requires 20+ hours of learning before the first usable video.

When After Effects IS the right choice

After Effects is worth the learning curve if you need broadcast-quality motion graphics, animated channel intros with 3D elements, or heavily branded lower-thirds for a large-budget production. Some top finance YouTubers use both - After Effects for the branded package, ChartAnimator for the actual chart content.

For the vast majority of trading educators publishing 2 to 5 videos per week, After Effects is the wrong tool. The time investment to produce each video is not compatible with a consistent publishing schedule.
